SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

Since our focus is on the NEW author, we understand that you may not be familiar with the process of properly preparing and submitting your work.  It is for this reason that we have done our best to be as clear as possible about our likes, needs and desires where queries and submissions are concerned.  Please read through these instructions carefully before approaching our acquisitons department with your query ( Query only.  Do not send attachments  with your query). 

Our response times for queries runs about 3 weeks unless we are overwhelmed by submissions.  Due to the abundant number of queries we receive, we will respond to your query ONLY if we have an interest.  If you have not received an emailed response within one calendar month of your query, it is safe to assume that we are not interested at this time.  Should that be the case, please keep in mind that it does not necessarily mean your work is unpublishable. It simply means that our PR staff felt that they would not be able to do your work enough justice to make it profitable for both you and Raular Publishing at this time.

Send a QUERY ONLY first.  Queries with submissions attached will be deleted immediately. It's a shame to have to do this, but because of the viruses floating around the net these days, we are strict about not opening unsolicited attachments.  If we are interested in seeing a sample of your work, we will respond to your query and request it.

Our contracts run for 5 years for fiction and 7 years for non-fiction and self-help.  An author who signs a contract with Raular Publishing is legally bound to complete that contract. There are no clauses for cancellation or escape once the property had officially been published.  Upon completion of the contract the success of the book will be evaluated and the signing of a renewal contract will be brought to consideration at that time. 

IMPORTANT: Raular Publishing does NOT accept rough drafts or unfinished work. We expect the author to present work that has been polished through several drafts and has no major plot flaws. We do not perform heavy edits to correct serious defects. Any polishing and correcting of the manuscript should be performed prior to submitting it to Raular Publishing. In short: We only accept manuscripts that are deemed industry ready and require nothing more than copyediting.

Royalties are paid on money received from our distributor for the sale of books. Royalty payouts are done twice a year; in January and again in August.

Authors should submit a query letter with a synopsis (fiction) or outline and the first three chapters (non-Fiction) via email.   WE ARE AN ECO CONSCIOUS PUBLISHING HOUSE AND DO NOT ACCEPT SNAIL MAIL QUERIES OR SUBMISSIONS. The submission should have a title page with contact information and the length, genre, and intended audience for the book.  Due to the excessive amount of SPAM we do not open unauthorized attachments.  Make sure to place all of your information in the body of the email and put QUERY (book title and author's name) in the subject line.

Should we be interested in reviewing your book, we will ask for the first 3 chapters or up to the first 50 pages.  If we like what we see, we will request the rest of the manuscript.  The author should make certain that the manuscript is polished at the time of submission.  This means that the manuscript is as clean as possible and spell check has been used several times.  DO NOT SEND A ROUGH FIRST DRAFT! It will be spotted right away and deleted from our e-files.

Raular Publishing does not contract on partials or proposals.

The key to sales is ALWAYS the story the author has come up with and the more carefully and thoroughly an author has researched the market to determine the type of stories that appeal to readers, the more likely the author is to become a successful author.

The author is expected to do his or her part in to bring attention to the book. Book signings, author websites and social networking is strongly recommended in order to achieve a high level of success. If you have an outline of your promotional plans, it is wise to include that in your query.

The length of work that we accept is as follows:

Novella: 20k-40k words
Non- Fiction: 50k to 200k words
Novel: 65k to 150k words

Please be aware that it is possible for new authors to earn fairly substantial royalties on their work ONCE THEY HAVE ESTABLISHED A FAN BASE. Authors should anticipate building their marketability with regular releases over a period of years. Although, upon occasion, an author's first release will have unusually high sales, it is a rarity and we are delighted when this happens, but it is not something an author should expect.

Although Raular Publishing strives to get all of the books we publish stocked on the shelves of brick and mortar bookstores, we can not guarantee this will happen. We will submit your book for review, but have no control over the bookstore buyer's desire to stock it.

Raular Publishing is an eco conscious publisher.  We can not justify the excessive use of print for books until we are certain that they will be well received by our readers. Therefore, All books begin on the print-on-demand, E-book and Kindle programs.  Once our staff feels a book has proven itself in sales and profits, a trade run will be printed. The size of that run will be determined by the staff of Raular Publishing after evaluating the book's progress.

Books are NOT placed into the hands of our competent staff for publication until the signed contract is received. 

Artwork is forwarded to the author as soon as it is finished and the author has permission to use the artwork to promote the sale of his/her book. Artwork is also posted on the upcoming release section of this website as soon as the artwork is completed to pre-publicize your release.

 
Special Note:  We came across this video on YouTube. It backs up our statement about the importance of author articipation in promoting the work.  One of an author's most fatal assumptions is that once the book is in the hands of the publisher, the autor's work is done.  Please be certain you are prepared to promote your title should it be published.
